Baby boomer, yes but not party poop-er

Baby boomer, yes but not a party pooper

I’m a baby boomer but I am not be a party pooper…

Turning 50 they say is a turning point in one’s life…  I will turn 55 and I don’t see much of a difference.

I have so far never experienced true physical pain. Except for some transient kidney stones, I’ve never broken a bone, never had a general anesthesia, and never spent time in the hospital for surgery.

Of course, I realize that I may not be as performant as when I was twenty-five but, I’m full of energy, I sleep like a baby and I enjoy every minute of my life.

Now that I’m 55….

Now that I’m 55 and my beautiful daughters have left the family nest to follow their education, I suddenly realized that I needed to plan this second part of my life to enjoy it to its maximum.

I will continue doing my favorite activity as a realtor in Lake Atitlán and help the foreigners to discover the most beautiful lake in the world, settle down and/or build their dream homes.

I have many clients and friends that are curious about my lifestyle and wonder what I do in order to lose weight (including losing a pant size), to be physically active and an overall functioning daily life.

My not-so-secret secret?

I have been slowly becoming vegan, drinking less alcohol, exercising more and changing my mindset so that I choose to enjoy every minute of my daily life.

As I look at older people around me including my family and friends, I want to be able to anticipate my old age and be sure to age gracefully and empowered. I do not want to be a victim of conditions accumulated over time.

So I decided to not be a party poope,

and work on planning my next 50 years.

I keep my brain sharp reading and educating myself in various areas.

I exercise so my body is in optimum condition.

I live pain free and pill free.

Because of these lifestyle choices, my level of energy is very high. I can do sports outings with my daughters and I can sustain long periods of intense work as well as enjoy periods of leisure.

I‘m convinced that I can die of old age and not of sickness.
